Dr. Akinrinola
Dr. Temidayo Akinrinola, the Head of the English Department, has advocated for a transformative shift in the relationship between lecturers and students, particularly during project supervision.

He made this known while speaking during a research seminar hosted by the Department of Mass Communication at the University's conference room on Tuesday, 16th January 2024.

Dr. Akinrinola emphasized the need for a change in the disposition of lecturers towards their students during project writing. His key message resonated with the seminar attendees, urging supervisors to adopt a supportive and guiding role rather than one rooted in exploitation.

"Supervising students during their projects is an opportunity for mentorship and empowerment. Exploiting their vulnerabilities is not only counterproductive but detrimental to their academic and personal development," asserted Dr. Akinrinola.

He went on to challenge the prevailing culture of intimidation, encouraging supervisors to be facilitators of knowledge and assistance. His insights sparked lively discussions among the seminar participants, fostering a commitment to redefining the dynamics of student-supervisor relationships.

In addition to addressing issues within the academic environment, Dr. Akinrinola delved into the broader educational disparities between Private and Public Universities in Nigeria. Drawing attention to the benefits enjoyed by students in Private Universities, he highlighted the existence of healthier relationships between lecturers and students.

Dr. Akinrinola's remarks prompted a reflection on the need for equity in educational opportunities.

He encouraged educators to work collectively towards bridging the gaps between Private and Public Universities, ensuring that every student, regardless of their institution, enjoys a supportive and enriching academic journey.

He also encouraged the students to play their own part by developing themselves
