In an exclusive Interview with Ruona Nakpodia, our correspondent Goodness Olugbuyiro gives insights about life as the tallest student in McU.
1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Ans: Hi there! I’m Ruona Nakpodia, a third-year Mass Communication student at McPherson University from Delta state.
2. Can you share some memorable experiences or interactions you’ve had with fellow students or faculty that were influenced by your height?
Ans:Recently, a fellow student complimented my legs after class, and a first-year student in my hall admired me with so much admiration in her eyes, making these moments quite memorable.
3. Have you ever faced any misconceptions or stereotypes because of your height, and how do you address or overcome them?
Ans: In secondary school, I faced bullying and misconceptions about my height, even from a teacher who suggested no man would want to marry a tall woman. Overcoming this negativity was challenging, but words of affirmation from friends and family helped me embrace my height.
4. How does being the tallest female student impact your confidence and self-perception, and what advice would you give to others who may struggle with societal expectations related to physical appearance?
Ans: Being the tallest female student has boosted my popularity and confidence. Embracing who you are and acknowledging God’s perfect creation is key to overcoming societal expectations related to physical appearance. Love yourself, don’t let others define you, and grow into the best version of yourself. You can do it!
